Day Trips - Melbourne - Victoria
The Mornington Peninsula is just to the south of Melbourne.  It is easily reached as a daytrip or you can stay a day or two.

Among the attractions are the beaches and holiday townships, it gets a bit crowded in January.  There are calmer beaches on the Port Phillip Bay side and ocean beaches on the south side.

The Peninsula has many small wineries.  You can have lunch at many and try their wines.  This region specialises in Pinot Gris/Grigio, but there are many other varieites as well.
